Seminar on Bangladesh leather goods prospect in Korean market held

DHAKA, Feb 26, 2026 (BSS)- Executive vice-president of Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) Kwon Ki-chang has said, Bangladeshi high quality leather goods has immense potential in the Korean market due to its huge demand among fashion conscious youths. 

He said this at a seminar held in South Korea on Tuesday on strengthen bilateral relations and increasing Bangladeshi leather, leather goods and footwear export in South Korea, said an official handout here today.

The seminar titled ‘Bangladesh: Your New High-Value Partner of Quality Leather Goods and Footwear’ was held in a hotel in Seoul.
 
A seven-member delegation led by Leather Goods and Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) president Syed Nasim Manzur participated in the seminar.

Around 30 top Korean exporters and manufacturing organizations representatives participated in the seminar, the release said.   

Addressing the inaugural session of the seminar Bangladesh Ambassador to South Korea Toufiq Islam Shatil said Bangladesh and Korea for long have good relation in different areas particularly in trade and commerce.

As the leather goods and footwear are the main export sector between the two countries, the seminar will play special role to expand Bangladeshi leather goods market in South Korea, he said.

Minsuhk Lee, president of Youngone Corporation, exchanged his experiences and gave a presentation on commercial success of their organization in Bangladesh and Korean EPZ.
  
In the technical session of the seminar LFMEAB president Syed Nasim Manzur presented the keynote paper highlighting the capacity of the leather industries in Bangladesh, quality assurance and compliance, success of foreign investment in the sector including its innovative aspects, export scenario, demographic dividend and commercial success due to the geographical situation.
