Ctg city communication being revamped: Mayor

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 26, 2026 (BSS)- City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has announced revamping the city's communication system as part of a comprehensive infrastructure development suiting to Chattogram's status as country’s commercial capital.

He said this while inaugurating a Taka 9.2 crore road and drain development project in the Khatib Hat area of West Sholashahar here today.

The mayor emphasized the significance of a sustainable road network, enhanced drainage system, and industrial area-based communication infrastructure in achieving the government's vision of transforming Chattogram into a prominent commercial hub.
 
To enhance industrialization, investment, and employment opportunities, it is crucial to improve the communication system. As part of our planned efforts, we have initiated ward-based infrastructure development activities, the mayor said.

Recently CCC has completed development of 4,100 feet roads and drains in various areas including Khatib Hat, Mubarak Ali Road, Sunnia Mahila Madrasa-adjacent road, Chanmia Saudagar Road, Tripura Canal-adjacent road, Nabinagar residential area, Sadar Canal-adjacent road, and Burma Colony residential area, he said.
 
Completed projects encompass road development in Hamzarbagh Road, Hamza Kha By-lane, Paharika Residential Area, Rangpur Colony, Greenview Residential Area, Mohammadpur Residential Area, Ismail Colony, Bangladesh Cooperative Housing Society Road, Shahjahan Residential Area, Rajganj Residential Area, Hillview Residential Area, Gauchia, Shantinagar, and Mohammadnagar Residential Areas, he added.

CCC Mayor also inaugurated a 20-meter-long RCC bridge over the Bali Canal in Mohra constructed at a cost of Taka 3.5 crore.

The mayor announced that a new bridge would be constructed in the Kalurghat industrial area to expand the road, increase canal capacity, and reduce water logging. 

The goal of the project is to integrate industrial, residential and commercial zones in Chattogram with a comprehensive road network, he said. 
Chief Engineer Anisul Islam and former Councilor Azam Khan were present.
