Jamaat Ameer for united efforts for peace, national development

DHAKA, Feb 26, 2026 (BSS) - Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today called upon all political and social organisations to work together, irrespective of party affiliation, in the greater interest of peace, discipline and national development.

“The role of law enforcement agencies is very crucial in protecting the lives and property of citizens and in establishing a justice-based society,” he told a views exchange meeting between senior officials of law enforcement agencies and Member of Parliament for Dhaka-14 constituency Mir Ahmad Bin Qasem and MP for Dhaka-16 Abdul Baten this morning.

Stressing the need to enhance public trust, Jamaat Ameer urged the agencies to play a more people-friendly and effective role through winning the confidence of the people.

Jamaat central executive council member and Ameer of Dhaka North city unit Selim Uddin, Nayeb-e-Ameer Abdur Rahman Musa, and officials of law enforcement agencies from the two constituencies were present at the meeting.

The meeting discussed in detail the overall law and order situation in Dhaka-14 and Dhaka-16 constituencies, citizens’ safety, anti-drug and anti-terrorism drives, prevention of juvenile gang activities and measures to maintain social harmony.

The MPs highlighted various field-level challenges and prospects, emphasising coordinated initiatives to curb crime alongside ongoing development activities in their respective areas.

Representatives of the law enforcement agencies sought cooperation from the public and briefed the meeting about ongoing special drives and awareness programmes aimed at improving security and maintaining stability in the areas.
