ACC trap operation: PIO arrested with bribe money in Feni

DHAKA, Feb 26, 2026 (BSS) - A project implementation officer (PIO) of Sonagazi Upazila in Feni district was caught red-handed with bribe money during a trap operation conducted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today.

Assistant Director of the ACC’s Public Relations Department at the commission headquarters Md. Tanzir Ahmed confirmed the matter to BSS.

According to the ACC, the complainant completed work of five projects under the office of the PIO at Sonagazi Upazila in Feni, through sub-contract agreements and subsequently submitted bills for payment. As a condition for releasing the bills, the PIO, Md. Al-Sayeed, allegedly demanded a bribe of Taka 1.2 million.

The complainant later agreed to pay the bribe and filed an application to the ACC’s Noakhali District Office to conduct a trap drive.

Following an approval from the Commission, an ACC trap team conducted the operation today and arrested Md. Al-Saeed along with his associate office assistant Abu Naser, while they were receiving Taka 100,000 in cash as bribe.

The ACC said that preparations are underway to file a case against the accused, produce them before the court and seek their remand for investigation.
