CSE revises Shariah index

DHAKA, May 19, 2026 (BSS) - The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) PLC has revised its CSE Shariah Index (CSI) based on the performance of listed companies, with the updated index set to take effect from June 3, 2026.

The Shariah Index is reviewed twice annually, said a press release issued today.

Under the latest revision, three companies - Asiatic Laboratories Limited, CVO Petrochemical Refinery PLC and Saiham Textile Mills Ltd. - have been newly included in the index.

Meanwhile, 12 companies were excluded from the previous list. 

These are -- Bangladesh Building Systems PLC, Baraka Patenga Power Ltd, Baraka Power Limited, Doreen Power Generations and Systems Limited, Grameenphone Limited, Legacy Footwear Limited, Malek Spinning Mills PLC, MJL Bangladesh PLC, Navana CNG Limited, Olympic Accessories Ltd., Premier Cement Mills PLC and Saiham Cotton Mills Ltd.

Following the revision, a total of 103 companies out of 383 listed firms have been selected for inclusion in the CSI. 

The index comprises companies from sectors including pharmaceuticals, textiles, engineering, food, insurance, banking, telecommunications and power.
