BAGERHAT, July 15, 2026 (BSS) – The Ministry of Commerce has dissolved the executive committee of the Bagerhat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and appointed Bagerhat Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mejbah Uddin as the administrator of the chamber.

The BCCI committee was dissolved in an office order signed by Ayesha Akhter, Director General (Project) of the Ministry’s Trade Organizations Division.

Newly appointed administrator has been asked to complete a fair and impartial election within the next 120 days and hand over the responsibility to the elected committee.

The commerce minister in its order said since the 2026-2028 elections of the Bagerhat Chamber of Commerce and Industry were not conducted in accordance with the law and rules. In order to solve the ongoing unrest and dissatisfaction of the BCCI, it is necessary to operate it in accordance with the Trade Organizations Act, 2022, Trade Rules 2025 and the organization's Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association.

“Therefore, the current committee of the organization has been dissolved in accordance with Section 17 of the Trade Organizations Act, 2022,” said the ministry.
