DHAKA, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) today held a workshop on developing a web-based order collection system for the purchase and redemption of units of open-end mutual funds (OEMFs), aiming to make investment in the sector easier, more transparent and technology-driven.

The workshop was held at the DSE office in the city yesterday, said a DSE press release today.

The proposed platform will provide an integrated and automated mechanism under the DSE framework for investors to purchase (create) and sell, redeem or repurchase open-end mutual fund units.

Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Commissioner Md Nafiz Al Tarik, CFA, FRM, Executive Director Md Mahmudul Haque, DSE Managing Director Nuzhat Anwar and General Manager of the Market Development Division Syed Mahmud Zubayer, among others, attended the workshop.

Officials of the BSEC's Mutual Fund, Collective Investment Scheme (CIS) and Securitisation Department and DSE officials were also present.

Speaking as the chief guest, Md Nafiz Al Tarik praised the DSE initiative, saying the proposed platform would play an important role in advancing the country's mutual fund industry and ensuring effective facilities for investors.

He underscored the importance of technology-driven initiatives to expand investors' access to mutual funds and strengthen the sector.

DSE Managing Director Nuzhat Anwar said the exchange has a clear vision of modernising its platform by ensuring integrated facilities for investors and creating opportunities for diversification of their investment portfolios.

"The development of this platform is an important step towards making investment in mutual funds easier, more convenient, transparent and technology-driven," she said.

At the workshop, DSE General Manager of the Market Development Division Syed Mahmud Zubayer made a detailed presentation on the features, operational framework and functionality of the proposed web-based order collection system.

Under the proposed platform, investors will be able to purchase and redeem units of open-end mutual funds through the DSE's web-based system, making mutual fund products more accessible and expanding investment opportunities in the capital market.

The platform is planned to be accessible through both desktop and mobile applications.

Under the proposed system, the sale and redemption or repurchase of open-end mutual fund units will be executed at the price declared or determined by the respective asset manager in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (Mutual Fund) Rules, 2025.

Each DSE stockbroker will act as the selling or dealing agent of the respective asset manager and assist investors in the sale, redemption or repurchase of open-end mutual fund units through the platform.

The initiative is expected to establish an easier, more efficient and technology-based mechanism for investors to purchase and redeem mutual fund units, contributing to the development of the open-end mutual fund industry.

It is also in line with the DSE's broader objective of modernising capital market infrastructure and introducing diversified financial products and services for investors.
