
DHAKA, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) - Water Resources Minister Md. Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee today said everyone must come forward to realise the dream of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
The minister made the call while addressing the sixth day of the Zia Smriti Book Fair-2026, organised by Zia Smriti Pathagar marking BNP's 48th founding anniversary on the Bangla Academy premises.
"Everyone must remain focused on their respective responsibilities and work in unity under the leadership of Tarique Rahman to build a new Bangladesh by completing the unfinished works of former Prime Minister late Begum Khaleda Zia," he said.
Anee said Ziaur Rahman envisioned a modern Bangladesh.
During his tenure, Bangladesh's identity and image increased in the international arena. He also dreamed of establishing SAARC to develop cordial relations among the countries of South Asia, he added.
Referring to Ziaur Rahman's direct participation in the Liberation War as its declarer, Anee said he had worked to build the country in the spirit of the Liberation War.
Dhaka South City BNP Joint Convener A N M Saiful Islam presided over the programme.
Lawmaker Selimuzzaman Selim, Swadhinata Padak and Ekushey Padak-winning Professor Dr Sukomal Barua and BNP National Executive Committee Member Fazlur Rahman Khokon, among others, addressed the event.
