ACC reconstitutes team to probe into graft allegations against Yeafesh Osman

DHAKA, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has reconstituted a probe team to enquiry allegations of misuse of power, nepotism and embezzlement of government funds committed by former Science and Technology Minister Yeafesh Osman.

ACC Assistant Director (public relations) Md Tanzir Ahmed confirmed the development to BSS.

Yeafesh Osman is accused of giving contract work to a company owned by his son Ishrar Osman through misuse of power and nepotism, according to allegations received by the ACC.

In addition, there are allegations of illegally appointing Md Salimullah as the director general of the National Institute of Biotechnology (NIB) and assigning two NIB officials as project directors (PDs) of two major projects while they were on leave.

The ACC official said ACC Deputy Director Md Rashedul Islam will lead the probe team, while its other members are Assistant Director Md Rakibul Hayat and Deputy Assistant Director Afia Khatun.
