International Literacy Day observed in Manikganj

MANIKGANJ, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) - International Literacy Day-2026 was observed in today in a befitting manner along with colorful programmes here in the district.

The Manikganj District Administration and the Bureau of Non-Formal Education (BNFE) jointly organized various programmes marking the day with the theme 'Literacy for people, the planet and prosperity.'

A colourful rally was brought out from the district town in the morning. The rally paraded the main roads of the town and ended at the Manikganj Collectorate premises.

Government officials, students of schools and colleges, teachers and people from different walks of life participated in the rally.

Later, a discussion was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's office.

Deputy Commissioner Nazmun Ara Sultana chaired the discussion.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Khayrul Islam, District Primary Education Officer (DPEO) Gopal Deb Nath and Director of National Polytechnic Institute Dr Engineer Md Faruque Hossain, among others, addressed the discussion.

The speakers underscored the importance of collective efforts to ensure literacy and education for all and build an educated nation.
