JHENAIDAH, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) - A hotel worker was killed after being hit by a Dhaka-bound bus in Aam Bazar area under Kotchandpur upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Nur Islam, son of late Ansar Ali, of College Stand Para in Kotchandpur upazila town.

The accident occurred around 10 am when the bus hit Nur Islam from behind while he was on his way to his workplace, leaving him dead on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotchandpur Model Police Station Mehedi Hasan confirmed the matter.

He said police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

"We are working to identify the bus and its driver responsible for the accident," the OC said, adding that legal proceedings in connection with the incident are underway.
