Vote counting begins after voting ended peacefully in Netrakona

NETRAKONA, Jan 7, 2024 (BSS) - Vote counting started immediately after voting 
ended in all the five constituencies of the district.

Voting of the 12th Jatiya Sansad election was held peacefully amid tight 
security measures in all five constituencies of the district.

The nationwide voting started at 8am and continued till 4pm without any 
break. 

This BSS correspondent while visiting different voting centers of Netrakona-2 
(Barhatta and Netrakona sader upazilas) constituencies in the morning saw 
that many voters including females and old aged men and women were going to 
their respective voting centers spontaneously to exercise their rights of 
franchise.

District election office sources said the voter turnout in the five 
constituencies was satisfactory. 

A total of 27 candidates were in the election race in five constituencies of 
the district and there were 
18, 97,860 voters, including 9,36,485 female voters in 673 voting centres 
under five constituencies of the district, district election officer Golam 
Mustafa said. 

Sufficient number of law-enforcement agencies including Armed forces, BGB, 
RAB, Police and Ansar are rendering round the clock service to maintain law 
and order situation in the region, he added.
