Over 550 cold-hit people get blankets in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Jan 15, 2024 (BSS)- More than 550 distressed and disadvantaged 
people were given blankets for mitigating their sufferings caused by the 
sweeping cold weather in the region.

District administration organised a worm clothes distribution programme at 
Gopalpur Adarsha Gram under Paba upazila in the district on Sunday afternoon.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rajshahi Shamim Ahmed accompanied by Additional 
DC Kolyan Chowdhury, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abu Saleh Muhammd Hasnat 
and Project Implementation Officer Engineer Abu Bashir distributed the 
blankets making the recipients happy. 

DC Shamim Ahmed said the sweeping cold weather has been affecting normal life 
of the people, particularly the marginalized and underprivileged ones, in the 
region for the past couple of days.

To protect the labour-selling and other rootless people from the biting cold, 
district administration has stood beside them. They have already distributed 
blankets among around 64,000 cold-stricken people in the district.

He also said the humanitarian aid programme will continue on behalf of the 
district administration.
