International Women's Day observed in Bhola

BHOLA, March 8, 2024 (BSS) - International Women's Day-2024 was observed in the district today as elsewhere in the country and the globe with a call to ensure overall development of the women folk and their empowerment in society.
  
This year’s theme of the day is 'Narir Somo Odhikar, Somo Sujog-Egiye Nite Hok Biniyog'.
  
On the occasion, a colorful rally was brought out from the premises of the District Commissioner's Office which paraded the important streets and ended in the conference room of the deputy commissioner's office this morning.
  
After the rally, a discussion meeting was held on the occasion at the Conference Room of Deputy Commissioner. The district administration and department of the district women affairs jointly organised the discussion.
 
 Deputy Commissioner (DC) Arifuzzaman addressed the meeting as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ripon Kumar Saha in the chair.
 
 Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Sabaykun Nahar, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sajal Chandra Sheel, NGO Representative Sohail Mahmud, Women Leader Bilkis Jahan Munmun, District Women Council General Secretary Zeenat Rehana, among   others, spoke on the occasion.
  
The DC said the present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for the development and empowerment of women.
  
The DC said that Bangladesh is going to transform into developed, prosperous, smart Bangladesh by 2041. It is not possible to build a smart, prosperous Bangladesh with only men. “So, women should be guaranteed equal rights.  Only then can we reach our specific goals,” he added.
