Two-day innovation fair begins in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, March 24, 2024 (BSS) - A two-day divisional-level "Innovation Fair-
2024" began here today at the Collectorate Building premises to make public
service popular among people.
 
Main thrusts of the fair are to identify the field-level potential innovative
initiatives, familiarize the government's innovative programmes with the
citizens and create opportunities of spreading the field-level innovations
throughout the country.

The Commissioner Office of Rajshahi division organised the fair supported by
the Ministry of Public Administration and district administration in order to
attain the cherished goal through showcasing the present field-level best
innovative initiatives.

District and upazila-level offices and institutions from all eight districts
in the division set up 25 stalls showcasing various information and documents
related to public service delivery and necessary process of getting those
easily after the best uses of information and communication technologies.

To mark the opening ceremony, a seminar titled "Smart Bangladesh and
Innovations: Graduation to Smart Bangladesh from Digital Bangladesh" at the
office conference hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC).
 
During his keynote presentation, Prof Rabiul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of
Electrical and Computer Engineering of Rajshahi University of Engineering and
Technology, gave an illustration on the graduation of smart Bangladesh.

Divisional Commissioner Dr Dewan Humayun Kabir addressed the seminar as the
chief guest with Additional Commissioner Tarafder Akter Jamil in the chair.

Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration Momena Moni,
Deputy Inspector General of Police Anisur Rahman and Commissioner of Rajshahi
Metropolitan Police Biplob Bijoy Talukder also spoke.
 
Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Shamim Ahmed discussed the objectives of the
innovation showcasing successes already achieved in implementation of a2i
Programme to attain sustainable development goals (SDGs) for further speeding
up national development.
 
Commissioner Dr Dewan Humayun Kabir said the present government under the
dynamic and farsighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been
working relentlessly for simplifying all the service delivery activities for
welfare of the public in general.
 
He told the meeting that a target has been set to build Smart Bangladesh on
the basis of four pillars-- Smart Citizen, Smart Government, Smart Society
and Smart Economy-- by 2041.
 
The government is now setting up 28 IT parks in the country including one in
Rajshahi which will create jobs for three lakh youths in phases.
 
The Commissioner said digitization is progressing encouragingly to achieve
the esteemed successes of building a digital Bangladesh where people are
getting all public services easily at their doorsteps.
 
He urged all field-level administrative officials to work with innovative
ideas to build a developed country by 2041 and also urged the upazila and
district level service delivery officials and employees to deliver public
services through the best uses of ICT and innovative ideas.

Earlier, the administrative officials, guests and other dignitaries visited
the stalls of the fair to see for themselves the innovative initiatives one
after another.
