Training in child journalism ends with call to build knowledge-rich nation

GAIBANDHA, MARCH 25, 2024 (BSS) – A three-day training on child journalism ended at
the hall room of Technical Training Centre (TTC) located at Farazipara, a suburb of the district
town this afternoon with a call to build a knowledge-rich nation.
 
A micro-project implementation committee formed by World Vision Bangladesh, a Christian
(Humanitarian) organisation dedicated to the well-being of children, arranged the training.
 
In this regard, a concluding ceremony was also held this afternoon, while Kazal Rebeiro, area
program sponsorship and child protection officer, moderated the ceremony.
 
Engineer Abdur Rahim, principal of TTC, addressed the function as the chief guest.
 
Presided over by Uttam Das, area program manager of the organization, the function was also
addressed, among others, by course facilitators Sarker Mohammad Shahiduzzaman and Tazul
Islam Reza and journalist Firoz Kabir Milon.

Chief guest engineer Abdur Rahim, in his speech, urged the children to be more responsible and
worthy citizens from childhood to build an enlightened nation.

He also urged them to conduct child journalism as a co-curricular activity side by side with
continuing academic studies to transform them into smart citizens that help the government build
Smart Bangladesh by 2041, a farsighted vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Uttam Das in his concluding speech, Uttam Das said the objective of the training was to build up
their capacity in news reading and news writing so that they could present stories regarding
problems and potentialities in their area, including children's issues in the media, through the use
of electronic devices.

Earlier, two participants, namely Zoha and Porimoni, expressed their feelings about the training
and thanked the organization for arranging such a type of training for them, as they had learned
many things about report writing from the trainers.

A total of 30 adult children from program command areas of the organization took part in the
training.
