30 women get sewing machines from GUK in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, March 26, 2024 (BSS)- A total of 30 women got sewing machines free
of cost from Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK), a local reputed non-government
development organisation, on Monday.

Aiming for socio-economic development, GUK distributed the sewing machines
among the women who are the beneficiaries of Promoting Resilience Opportunity
and Socio-Economic Empowerment Migrants/ Climate Displaced Communities in
Bangladesh (PROSPERITY) project, funded by AWO international and BMZ.

In this regard, a function was held at GUK head office in Nashratpur area
under Sadar upazila of the district.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mahmud Al-Hasan attended the function and
distributed the machines to the beneficiaries as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, the UNO urged the beneficiaries to be more serious
and careful in utilizing the machines in a bid to earn economic profit to run
their family smoothly without any economic trouble.

Members of the management team of the organisation were present on the
occasion.

Earlier, all selected beneficiaries were given one month training on sewing
at the arrangement of the project so that they could operate the machines
successfully, said Senior Program Manager Joya Prosad.
