14,550 Chuadanga farmers to get incentive for Aush cultivation

CHUADANGA, April 23, 2024 (BSS) - A total of 14,550 small and marginal farmers in Sadar upazila of the district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agricultural incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of Ufshi Aush in the current Kharif-1 season.
 
To increase the interest of farmers in Ufshi Aush cultivation, the amount of incentive support has been increased significantly in the district, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Bikash Chandra Saha said.
 
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Kissinger Chakma inaugurated the distribution function and handed over the incentives to the farmers as the chief guest, held on Sadar Upazila Parishad premise this morning with Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Bikash Chandra Saha in the chair.
 
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Fatema Tuz Zohra, Upazila Agriculture Officer Afrin Binte Aziz, Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Sajjad Hossain, among others, were present.
 
DAE official said that each farmer will get five kg of Ufshi Aush seeds, 10 kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and five kg of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for cultivating Ufshi Aush on one bigha of land.
 
Rest of the seeds and fertilizers will be distributed very soon under the concerned Upazila Agriculture Office, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Bikash Chandra Saha said.
