GAIBANDHA, June 3, 2024 (BSS) -  Speakers at a function here today underscored the need
for ensuring safe migration and preventing human trafficking to help international job seekers avoid extra complexities abroad.
 
If any international job aspirants go abroad illegally, they face immigration-related complexities for not having proper documents. In this situation, they are not only compelled to return to the country with empty hands, but a large amount of money has to be sent from the country to bring them back, making their families hapless.
 
They made the observations while addressing a dialogue with the media on safe migration and
anti-human trafficking at the hall room of Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK), located in Nashratpur
area under Sadar upazila in the district this afternoon.
 
The GUK arranged the function under the Promoting Resilience, Opportunity, and Socio-
Economic Empowerment of Migrants and Climate Displaced Communities in Bangladesh
(PROSPERITY) project funded by AWO International and BMZ.
 
Principal of TTC (Technical Training Center) under the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and
Overseas Employment Engineer Abdur Rahim addressed the function as the main focal person,
and Nesarul Haque, assistant director of the District Employment and Manpower Office of the
ministry, spoke at the event as the associate focal person.
 
After an elaborate discussion, the journalists were urged to play a responsible role in creating much awareness among the people so that international job seekers do not go abroad in an illegal way through the intervention of brokers.
 
Earlier, assistant coordinator (AC) of GUK Aftab Hossain briefed the journalists about the
overall activity of the project that would continue till December 2025, and AC Joyaprosad
welcomed the participants on behalf of the organization.
 
A good number of journalists, including Sarker Mohammad Shahiduzzaman, working in
different print and electronic media from the district, took part in the dialogue.
