141 held in 10 cases in Tangail

TANGAIL, July 24, 2024 (BSS) - Police arrested 141 people in drives conducted in different parts of the district in 10 cases in connection with vandalism and violence in the district.

The arrested have been charged with extensive vandalism in Tangail district on last Thursday and Friday. They attacked, vandalized and set fire to many public and private establishments, including Awami League office, police box, post office, vehicles and business establishments.
    
The arrested vandalized and burnt pictures of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib and four national leaders. They also attacked the police and innocent people. Many civilians, including 28 policemen, were injured in these attacks.


Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) of the district, Abdullah Al Mamun, said that 10 cases of vandalism and violence have been registered in different parts of the district so far.

He also said the arrested vandalized seven vehicles and set fire to three police boxes and 28 policemen were injured. The injured are receiving treatment at the hospital.
