IAB Ameer urges KCC to ensure punishment for ex-mayor, employees

KHULNA, AUG 22, 2024(BSS)-Nayebe Ameer of Islami Andolon Bangladesh (IAB) Hafez Mowlana Abdul Awal today urged the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) authority to ensure exemplary punishment for the ex-mayor, councilors, corrupt officers and employees who have taken bribe in different ways from government projects, contractors and city dwellers.

"Resume civic service quickly, evict 22 canals from grabbers and completes drainage system soon to free water logging in Khulna City," he made these remarks while exchanging views with KCC Administrator Md Helal Mahmud Sharif at KCC building.

Awal, also the Khulna City unit IAB President, called for making syndicate-free contractors and open tender for any construction and  repairing works to ensure transparency and accountability of the KCC and  removing all illegal establishments from footpaths to ensure hassle free walk way for pedestrians.

Helal Sharif, also the Divisional Commissioner of Khulna, said that they stared works to resume civic service quickly for the betterment of the city dwellers.

Among others, IAB city unit vice-presidents Sheikh Nasir Uddin, Alhaj Abu Taher Secretary Mufty Imran Hossain, Joint Secretary Md Abu Galib and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KCC Laskar Tazul Islam attended the meeting.

Besides, Khulna Nagorik Andolon, a platform for civil society, led by its president Dr Sheikh Baharul Alam exchanged views with the KCC administrator.
