HPV vaccination begins in Khulna tomorrow

KHULNA, Oct 23, 2024 (BSS)- Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme for girls is set to begin tomorrow (Thursday) in Khulna as part of the government initiative for prevention of cervical cancer.

The campaign will continue for 18 days under the initiative of the government with the support of World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF and Gavi, an international vaccine alliance.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Laskar Tazul Islam said a total of 32,743 girls will be given the vaccine in the city.

In an advocacy meeting with Journalists marking the HPV Immunization Campaign, he said girls from 10 to 14 years old will receive the vaccine in their educational institutions or local health centers free of cost.

The campaign will continue from 8.00am to 3.30pm every day except Friday and government holiday.
