CHATTOGRAM, Feb 26, 2025 (BSS)-Two people including a Chattogram University (CU) female student were killed and  another CNG passenger injured in a road accident in Nazirhat area under Fatikchhari upazila of the district this afternoon.

The victims were identified as Rehana Akhter, a Masters student of Sociology Department of CU, and daughter of Zakir Hossain, hailed from Chowdhuryhat Sandwip Colony under Hathazari upazila and Muhammad Parvez, 32, son of Muhammad Yusuf, hailed from Kulalpara of Narayanhat union under Fatikchhari upazila of the district.

Eyewitnesses said a Fatikchhari sadar upazila bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying passengers suddenly overturned when another tempo was trying to overtake that left the passengers injured critically.

Parvez and Rehana Akhter were taken to Fatikchari health complex where attending doctors declared them dead.

Nazirhat Highway police station officer- in charge   Md. Shahabuddin said the deceased student’s maternal uncle has filed a case with Fatickhari thana in this connection.  

However, the driver of the tempo was arrested.
