Two killed, 20 injured on Dhaka-Ctg Highway crash

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 27, 2025 (BSS) - At least two people were killed and 20 others injured in a collision among four vehicles at a place near U-turn area of Mithachara Bazar under Mirsarai upazila on Dhaka-Chattogram highway on early Thursday.

Of the deceased, Sumon Hawlader, 35, is son of Latif Hawlader of Mushirabad village of Kathalia police station in Jhalakati district while another one -Sohag, 35, is son of Shah Alam in Pura Masjid area of Paschim Madarbari in the city.

Among the injured, ten of them were admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) while the rest were given treatment at local health complex.

Police and Fire Service sources said the accident took place when two passenger bus of Nirab and Shayamoli Paribahan collided and rammed sporadically with two other goods-laden covered vans near U-turn circle in Mithachara bazar under Mirsarai upazila in the early hours of today, leaving two dead on the spot and 20 others injured.
The bodies were kept at CMCH morgue for postmortem.

Traffic on the Dhaka- Chattogram highway had been disrupted for two hours due to the accident. Vehicular movement  resumed after police brought the situation under control and cleared the highway for traffic movement, said Borhan  Uddin, Sub-Inspector of Zorarganj Highway Police outpost.
