BGB seizes gold bars in Chuadanga

DHAKA, Feb 28, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized four gold bars weighing 2.335 kg, valued at over Tk 2.84 crore, while being smuggled to India through Damurhuda upazila in Chuadanga district on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, the BGB's Chuadanga Battalion (6 BGB) seized the gold bars hidden in an abandoned cowshed near the Hudapara border on Thursday evening in the presence of local dignitaries.

Sensing the presence of BGB personnel, the owner of the house, Md. Harun (35), son of late Ramzan Ali Khan of Hudapara village, managed to escape.

Confirming the seizure, Lt. Col. Md. Nazmul Hasan, Commander of Chuadanga Battalion (6 BGB), stated that the estimated market value of the confiscated gold is Tk 2,84,30,150.

The seized gold bars have been handed over to Damurhuda Police Station, and a case was filed in this regard.
