Man killed over land dispute in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH, Feb 28, 2025 (BSS) - A man was killed while trying to stop 
fighting between two neighboring brothers over a land dispute in Shailkupa 
upazila of the district today.

The deceased was Shafiqul Islam alias Sufi Sheikh, 35, son of Nawab Ali, a 
resident of Bandekhali village under Dhalharachandra union of the upazila.

Police said there was a long-standing dispute over a land between Idris Ali 
Joardar and Saken Ali Joardar, sons of Mubarak Joardar. On Friday morning, 
Idris Ali locked into a fight with his brother Saken Ali over the matter. 
When Saken Ali's neighbor Sufi came forward to stop the fight, Idu Joardar's 
people attacked him with sharp weapons.

Injured Sufi was taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where he 
succumbed to his injuries at noon. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shailkupa Police Station Masum Khan confirmed the 
matter and said police arrested Idu Joardar in this connection.
