4 lakh yaba seized, 16 peddlers held at Kuakata

DHAKA, Feb 28, 2025 (BSS) - The joint forces in separate raids seized four 
lakh pieces of Yaba pills and arrested 16 drug peddlers from Kuakata area of 
Patuakhali district on Thursday.

The arrested were Nabi Hossain, 53, Monir Uddin, 48, Soad Alam, 37, Mofachhel 
Hossain, 60, Mobarak Hossain, 45, Chabur Ahmed, 54, Selim Majhi, 42, Omar 
Faruk, 28, Tahidul Alam, 48, Abu Taleb, 40, Abdul Nabi, 30, Fazle Karim, 40, 
Mostak Ahmed, 48, Abdul Khalek, 40, Alfat, 30, and Khalil Ahmed, 39.

The arrested Yaba smugglers are the residents of Noakhali, Chattogram and 
Cox's Bazar districts, sources of joint forces said.

A joint team of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Bangladesh Coast Guard 
(BCG) arrested them from Kuakata area under Mahipur Police Station.

During the operation, they also seized 1,00,000 pieces of contraband Yaba 
tablets hidden in the net of a trawler.

The arrested were handed over to Mahipur Police Station.

In another raid, the joint forces seized three lakh pieces of Yaba tablets 
from Kuakata in Patuakhali district in an abandoned condition on Thursday.

Two separate cases were registered in these regard.
