16 businesses fined in Khulna

KHULNA, March 5, 2025 (BSS) - The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) has fined 16 businesses Tk 1.10 lakh across the Khulna division for several irregularities.

A total of nine teams of the DNCRP conducted separate drives in eight districts of the division on Tuesday, said a DNCRP press release.

The directorate fined the businesses on various allegations including processing of unhygienic food, using harmful ingredients in food, irregularities in products delivery and overpricing of goods, the release added.

During the drives, the operation teams monitored market prices and checked purchase vouchers of different essential commodities including rice, edible oil, gas, medicine, diagnostics, potatoes, local onion, vegetables, chicken and eggs.

Besides, DNCRP officials directed businessmen to showcase government fixed commodity sale prices. 

DNCRP conducted the drives at New Market road area, Gallamari, Nirala area, Mostofa intersection in Khulna city and in Kustia, Magura, Meherpur, Jessore, Satkhira and Bagerhat district. 

Deputy Director of DNCRP Khulna divisional office Mohammad Selim, assistant director of Khulna district office Walid-Bin-Habib, assistant director of Kustia district office Md Masum Ali, assistant director of Magura district office Md Sajol Ahmed, assistant director of Meherpur district office Mohammad Mamunul Hasan, assistant director of Jessore district office Sayeda Tamanna Tasnim, assistant director of Satkhira district office Md Mehedi Hasan Tanvir and assistant director of Bagerhat district office Sharifa Sultana led the drives separately.
