Zakat, donation collection program begins in Meherpur

MEHERPUR, March 5, 2025 (BSS) - The zakat and donation collection program of the Patient Welfare Association has been inaugurated on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan for the welfare of poor and helpless patients in the district.

The program was inaugurated around 11 on the premises of the General Hospital organized by the Patient Welfare Association, Social Services Office and it will continue till March 19. 

Deputy Director of the District Social Services Office Md. Ashadul Islam presided over the event while Deputy Commissioner Sifat Mehnaz was present as the chief guest. 

Acting Superintendent of Meherpur General Hospital Dr. Fazlur Rahman was present as the special guest. 

Moderated by District Social Services (Reg) Officer Kazi Abul Mansur, it was addressed, among others, by RMO of the General Hospital Dr. S. M. Kabir, Hospital Social Service Officer Mehezabien Kemi, Lifelong members of Patient Welfare Association Dr. Abdus Salam and Saiful Islam, Probation Officer Md. Mizanur Rahman and Sadar Upazila Social Service Officer Md. Anisur Rahman.

The speakers said that through this program, poor and helpless patients will be helped by collecting donations, zakat and grants.
