KUSHTIA, Mar 05, 2025 (BSS) -The district administration has imposed a complete ban on marijuana and drug in and around the Lalon Shrine during this year's Lalon Memorial Festival.

Kushtia Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Taufiqur Rahman made the announcement regarding ban in a preparatory meeting held at the District Administration's conference room today on the occasion of the celebration of 'Lalon Memorial Festival 2025'.

He said, "This year's Lalon Memorial Festival will be completely free from marijuana and drug use in and around the Lalon Shrine."

"If any person consumes or sells drugs there during the memorial festival, strict legal action will be taken by the administration," he added.

Introduced by Lalon Shah himself, a three-day festival is held every year at Chheuriya of the district to celebrate Dol Purnima.

However, the festival will be held for one day instead of three days this year due to the holy month of Ramadan.

No discussion, cultural program and rural fair will take place this time.

Lalon Academy usually provides three meals a day in the festival.

Baul devotees and fakirs will be given iftar on the evening of March 13 and sahri at night this year instead of three meals due to Ramadan.
