JHENAIDAH, March 6, 2025 (BSS) - Small and marginal farmers in Sadar Upazila received mung bean and sesame seeds along with fertilizers to boost oilseed and pulse production under a government incentive programme this morning.

Attending an event as chief guest, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Razia Akhter Chowdhury distributed the supplies among the farmers. Sadar Upazila Additional Agriculture Officers Mohammad Junaid Habib and Mir Rakibul Islam attended the programme with Agriculture Officer Noor A Nabi in the chair.

A total of four metric tons of mung bean seeds were distributed free of charge to 800 marginal farmers. Additionally, each of 550 farmers received one kilogram of sesame seeds along with ten kilograms of DAP and five kilograms of MOP fertilizers.

Agriculture Officer Noor A Nabi said the distribution was conducted under the Kharif-1 season incentive programme for the 2024-25 fiscal year. This initiative aims to enhance the cultivation and production of summer mung beans and sesame, ensuring increased agricultural output and greater support for farmers.
