Seeds, fertilizers distributed among farmers in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH, Mar 6, 2025 (BSS) - Free Mung beans, sesame seeds and fertilizers have been distributed today to small and marginal farmers in Jhenaidah's Sadar Upazila to enhance pulse and oilseed production.

Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Razia Akhter Chowdhury inaugurated the distribution programme around 10 am at Upazila Agricultural Extension Office.

The programme was chaired by Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Noor A Nabi, with the participation of Additional Agriculture Officers Mohammad Junaid Habib and Mir Rakibul Islam.

A total of 4 metric tons of mung beans were provided free of charge to 800 farmers in the Upazila. 

Each recipient also received 1 kg of sesame seeds, 10 kg of DAP fertilizer and 5 kg of MOP fertilizer.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Noor A Nabi said that this initiative is part of the government's incentive program for the Kharip-1 season of the 2024-25 fiscal year, aiming to increase the cultivation of summer moong and sesame.

Local public representatives, officials from the Agriculture Department and the farmers were present during the distribution.
