National Jute Day celebrated in Thakurgaon

THAKURGAON, Feb 6, 2025 (BSS) - National Jute Day was celebrated in the district today. 

On the occasion, local administration and local Jute Department organized a discussion meeting at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Soleman Ali presided over the meeting. 

Asim Kumar Malakar, District Jute Development Officer, Alamgir Kabir, Additional Deputy Director (Grains) of local Department of Agricultural Extension, Hafizur Rahman, Deputy Manager of local BSCIC, Maulana Abdul Hakim, former Ameer of the District Jamaat and Habibul Islam Bablu, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry spoke on the occasion.

The speakers said jute is a cash crop and the contribution of jute to national economy is great. The use of jute and jute goods has to be increased as it is environmentally friendly, they said. 

They also called for increasing jute cultivation in the country to the greater national interest.

Jute farmers of the district and officials and employees of different government and private government organizations joined the event.
