Fishermen arrested for violating fishing ban in Padma-Meghna area

CHANDPUR, March 7, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court has fined eight fishermen a total of Tk 24,000 for violating the fishing ban in the sanctuary area of the Padma-Meghna rivers in the district.

Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of the Chandpur District Commissioner's Office Md Masud Rana led the mobile court from Thursday noon to midnight, said Chandpur Sadar Upazila Assistant Fisheries Officer Md Mizanur Rahman today.

Five thousand meters of current net, two boats and five kilograms (kg) of jatka fish were seized from the fishermen, he added.
