Indian citizen held with drugs in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH, March 9, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), in separate
drives, arrested an Indian youth and recovered contraband phensedyl and liquor from different border areas in Jhenaidah district yesterday.

The arrested was Ahad Ali, 17, son of late Bashfitr, hailed from Gaziabad railway station village under Gaziabad Police Station in New Delhi.

A team of the 58 BGB battalion of Matila Border Out Post (BOP) carried out the drives at the adjacent areas of the Kodla river bank on Saturday noon and arrested Ahad Ali from Maheshpur border, said BGB battalion release here today.

Matila BOP Commander M Abdus Sattar led the drive.

Besides, the BGB teams of Natunpara and Gayespur BOP recovered 114 bottles of
Indian liquor and 59 bottles of phensedyl while conducting separate drives in
the areas.

The recovered drugs are now kept at BGB's store.

Police will produce the arrested Indian citizen before the court after filing a case against him for allegedly entering into Bangladesh illegally through the Maheshpur border, said Fayez Uddin Mridha, officer-in-charge (OC) of Maheshpur Police Station.
