6,700 meters illegal fishing net seized at Halda river

CHATTOGRAM, March 11, 2025 (BSS) - Fisheries department in a drive seized 6,700 meters of illegal fishing net (charghera net) from the river Halda, a natural fish breeding ground, in the district on Monday.

A team of the department conducted a drive at Ramdas Munsir Hat in Hathazari upazila and seized the nets setting up in the river for fishing, said upazila senior fisheries officer Aminul Islam.

He said the operation will continue to develop, conserve and protect the natural fish breeding grounds of the Halda River.
