3 fishermen fined for catching Jatka

CHANDPUR, March 13, 2025 (BSS)- Coastguard and Department of Fisheries seized over 5,000 meters of current net and fined three fishermen for illegally catching jatka (hilsa fry) in the Harina channel of the Meghna River in Sadar upazila early today.
 
Sadar upazila assistant fisheries officer Md Mizanur Rahman said they detained the fishermen when they were catching the fish fry in the area with current net.

Later, the fishermen were produced before a mobile court and the court realised Taka 2,000 as fine from each of the fisherman and set them free.

The Department of Fisheries destroyed the current net and seized the trawler.
