RANGPUR, Mar 14, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 in two separate drives arrested six alleged drug traders with huge drugs from different areas in Rangpur and Lalmonirhat districts on Thursday night.
"The seized drugs include 17.50 kilograms of ganja, 69 bottles of smuggled phensidyl and one bottle of foreign-made wine," said a press release issued here by Senior Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-13 Flight Lieutenant Md. Saifullah Nayeem today.
On a tip-off, an operational team of RAB-13 set up a check post at Bailey Bridge Bazar under Kawnia upazila of Rangpur, searched a battery-run three-wheeler and arrested four persons with 17.50 kilograms of ganja from the spot.
The detainee was identified as Md. Meher Chishti, 28, of village Kashipur, Md. Habil, 28, and his brother Md. Kabil, 24, and Md. Mostafa Kamal, 19, of village Anontapur Ghughurhat under Phulbari upazila in Kurigram district.
Another operational team of RAB-13 in a raid searched a passenger bus at Kakina Bazar under Kaliganj upazila in Lalmonirhat, seized 69 bottles of phensidyl and one bottle of foreign liquor and arrested two persons from the spot.
The arrested persons were identified as Abu Sayem Khokan, 28, and Md. Ruku Mia, 19, of village Uttar Botrish Hazari under Kaliganj upazila in Lalmonirhat district.
The elite force handed over the arrested persons to the concerned police stations in Rangpur and Lalmonirhat districts for further legal actions, the release added.
