Poet Jasimuddin's 49th death anniversary observed

FARIDPUR, March 14, 2025 (BSS) - The 49th death anniversary of poet Jasimuddin, popularly known as Palli Kabi (the Rural Bard) for his poems depicting the people and nature of rural areas of the country, was observed in the district today.

As part of the observance, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Qamrul Hasan Mollah, also the president of Jasim Foundation, paid floral tributes to the poet's grave at Ambikapur in the morning.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Abdul Jalil, Faridpur Press Club and various social and cultural organizations also paid tributes to the poet by placing wreaths at his grave.

Later, a discussion meeting and a doa-mahfil were held in the courtyard of the poet's house on the occasion of his death anniversary.

The district administration and Jasim Foundation jointly organized those programmes with Additional District Magistrate Mintu Biswas in the chair.

Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of the district spoke on the occasion, among others.

Jasimuddin was born on January 1, 1903 at Tambulkhana village of Faridpur district in the then British India. The poet died on March 14, 1976 in Dhaka.
