MEHERPUR, April 22, 2025 (BSS) - The World Autism Awareness Day 2025 was observed here today like elsewhere in the country.

This year's theme of the day is "Welcoming Neurodiversity, Building a Sustainable Society."

To mark the day, Meherpur district administration and social services department jointly held a discussion at the deputy commissioner's conference room.

Social services department deputy director Asadul Islam presided over the discussion and deputy commissioner Sifat Minhaz attended it as the chief guest. 

Police inspector Bozlur Rahman, Polashipara Social Welfare Organization's executive director Mosharrof Hossen, disability consultant Dr. Abdul Hai, Meherpur Autistic School teacher Payel Uddin and guardian Afroza Khatun, among others, spoke at the event.

Earlier, a rally was brought out from the deputy commissioner's office premises. The rally marched through key roads in the town before returning to its starting point.
