Lightning strike kills boatman in Sylhet

SYLHET, April 22, 2025 (BSS) - A boatman died after being struck by a lightning at Fenchuganj upazila of the district today.

The deceased was Jilan Mia, 38, son of Nasim Mia of Baghmara Paschim Para of the upazila.

According to locals, a thunderbolt struck him when he was on his boat in Kushiara River, leaving him critically injured. 

Locals sent him to upazila health complex where duty doctors declared him dead.
