SUNAMGANJ, April 22, 2025 (BSS) - The task force comprising Border Guard
Bangladesh (BGB) members seized Indian smuggled goods worth over Taka 40 lakh
from the Surma River here early today.
The taskforce led by Assistant Commissioner of Sunamganj district Mehedy
Hasan conducted an anti smuggling operation on the Surma River at about 4am
today.
Acting on a tip-off, the team intercepted an engine-run boat without its
owner at Saheb Bari Ghat area and seized various products including cosmetics
and biscuits manufactured in India worth Taka 40,12,920, according to a
release of BGB-28.
Confirming the seizures, Sunamganj-28 BGB Commander Lieutenant Colonel AKM
Zakaria Kadir said the border guard force remains vigilant to ensure border
security and prevent smuggling.
The process was underway to deposit the seized products to Sunamganj Customs
Office, he added.
