SATKHIRA, April 22, 2025 (BSS) - Police recovered 34 sickles and four machetes from Shyamnagar upazila here in the district today, one day after recovery of similar sharp weapons from the same area.

The weapons were found in a sack dumped in an abandoned pond in front of the house of Rahmat Ali, president of the Sheikh Russel Shishu Kishore Parishad in Nakipur village.

Local resident Sufia discovered the sack while working near the pond and informed the police, said Shyamnagar Police Station officer-in-charge Humayun Kabir.

Police responded promptly and recovered the weapons.

An investigation is underway to identify the individuals responsible, said Humayun.

Earlier on Monday, a similar cache-also consisting of 34 sickles and machetes-was found in another pond in the same area. That pond was reportedly occupied by Saber Mistri, a local leader of the Awami Swechasebak League.
