AL leader held in Munshiganj in July uprising murder case

MUNSHIGANJ, April 22, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested Vaggakol union parishad chairman Kazi Monowar Hossain Shahadat in Srinagar Upazila here for allegedly killing Riazul, driver of a locally made vehicle Mishuk, during the 2024 July uprising.

Shahadat, 52, is a former general secretary of Vaggakol union unit of Jubo League and currently a member of the union Awami League.

Shahadat was taken into custody from his residence in Kamargaon area around 7:00pm on Monday, said additional superintendent of police (crime and operation) Md. Firoz Kabir.

He was arrested in the case filed over killing Mishuk driver Riazul in Munshiganj on August 4, 2024, said Munshiganj Police Station officer-in-charge M Saifur Alam.

The accused has been produced before court, he said.
