Man killed after being run over by train in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, April 22, 2025 (BSS) - A man was killed after being run over by train in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi district.

The body was recovered around 3:00 PM on Tuesday from the Joynagar rail crossing area near Daulatkandi railway station.

The deceased, Sajal Mia, 40, was the son of Md. Hafiz Uddin from Saltia village in Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh district.

According to the railway police, around 8:30 AM on Tuesday, the Dhaka-bound ‘Egarosindhur Express’ was passing Daulatkandi railway station when the man fell under the train and was run over.

Locals stated that the man was walking along the railway tracks when the incident occurred. His left leg was severed below the knee, and his head and other parts of the body were cut and bruised. Around 2:30 PM, locals noticed the body on the tracks and informed the police. Sub-Inspector Zahurul Islam from Narsingdi Railway Outpost recovered the body from the spot.

The body was later taken to the railway outpost, and the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) was notified to confirm the identity. PBI members arrived and identified the deceased.

Sub-Inspector Zahurul Islam, in-charge of the Narsingdi Railway Outpost, confirmed the victim’s identity and said efforts are being made to contact his family.

The body was sent to the morgue of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
