2 business establishments fined Tk 25,000 in Nilphamari

RANGPUR, April 23, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court in separate drives fined two business establishments Taka 25,000 on various irregularities at different places of Sadar upazila in Nilphamari district on Tuesday.
 
"The Rangpur divisional office of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and Nilphamari district administration jointly conducted the drive," said a press release.
 
The mobile court fined the two business organizations as per the BSTI Act-2018 and the Weights and Measures Act-2018.
 
Executive Magistrate of Nilphamari district administration Soheli Noshin Prottyasha led the court.
 
During the drives, the court fined Nakib PVC Pipe at Puraton Goruhati area Taka 10,000 for manufacturing and selling PVC pipes without quality certificates.
 
The court also fined Rashida Filling Station near the Forest Department Office area Taka 15,000 for not having a valid calibration chart for underground storage tanks.

BSTI Field Officer (Certification Marks) Marufa Begum and Inspector (Metrology) Md. Nasir Uddin from the BSTI Divisional Office in Rangpur served as prosecutors during the drives.
 
"The Rangpur divisional BSTI office will continue such campaigns in the public interest," the release added.
