CUMILLA, April 23, 2025 (BSS) - A teenage boy was killed and two others were injured in a road accident in the Jhalam area under Barura upazila of the district today.
 
The deceased was Jisan, 13, son of Faruk Hossain of the area.
 
Quoting locals, police said a driver of a cylinder-loaded pickup van lost control over the steering and fell into a roadside pond, leaving the teenaged boy dead on the spot as he was bathing in the pond.
 
Mehedi Hasan, 11, son of Akther Hossain, and Mahfuz Alam, 8, son of Masud Alam of the area, were injured in the incident. They were also bathing in the pond.
 
Members of the fire service rushed to the spot and recovered the body and rescued two persons.
 
The injured are undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
