The government support was provided under the Incentive and Rehabilitation Programme for the 2024-25 fiscal, targeting the increased cultivation of jute, Ufshi Aush (a high-yielding variety of rice), sesame, and mung beans.

According to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), each of 6,000 small and marginal farmers received one kilogram of jute seed, five kilograms of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP), and five kilograms of Muriate of Potash (MOP) for per bigha of land.

For Ufshi Aush cultivation, 14,000 farmers were given five kilograms of seed, ten kilograms of DAP, and five kilograms of MOP fertilizer for per bigha of land.

Additionally, 2,900 farmers received one kilogram of sesame seed along with ten kilograms of DAP and five kilograms of MOP for per bigha of land. 1,100 farmers received five kilograms of mung bean seed along with the same quantities of fertilizers for per bigha of land.

The initiative aims to increase the production of key seasonal crops and ensure better food security, Md Rafiqul Islam, additional director of the DAE in Khulna zone, told BSS.

He said field-level agricultural officers will provide continuous support to farmers to help ensure successful cultivation.
