Rajshahi Swechasebak League leader arrested in Naogaon

RAJSHAHI, May 9, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested a Swechhasebak League (SL) leader in a drive conducted in Naogaon district early today. 

The arrestee was identified as Abdul Wahed Khan Titu, joint general secretary of the Rajshahi city unit of SL. He also served as the assistant personal secretary to former Rajshahi City Corporation mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton.

Titu, a resident of the Raninagar area in Rajshahi city, had been absconding since August 5 last year.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid around 5am and arrested him from the house of Sagar Chowdhury, joint general secretary of the district motor workers' union, at Chakrail village in Badalgachhi upazila of Naogaon district.

Inspector (Investigation) of Badalgachhi Police Station Saiful Islam told BSS that Titu is an accused in two cases, including a murder case, filed with Boalia Model Police Station under Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.

He was directly involved in an armed attack on the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in the Alupatty area of Rajshahi city. 

In another drive, police arrested Kawsar Ahmed, a close associate of former MP Omor Faruque Chowdhury, from his home in Amsho village under Tanore upazila of the district last night. He had also been in hiding since August 5 last year.
