SAVAR, May 9, 2025 (BSS) - Two people were killed in a road accident in Savar Bazar bus stand area on the Dhaka-Aricha highway this morning.

Police identified the deceased as Hossain Ali, 55, son of Fazal Haque Munshi of Usmannagar village in Charfesson upazila of Bhola district, and Sayet Sheikh, 35, son of Dhalu Sheikh of Madbarkandi village in Jajira upazila of Shariatpur district.

The victims were waiting to board a 'Thikana Paribahan' passenger bus bound for Gazipur. As the bus stopped in front of them, a speeding truck crashed into it from behind, pushing the bus forward and fatally hitting the two men, according to Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saugatul Alam of the Savar Highway Police Station.

They were rushed to a nearby clinic, where doctors declared them dead.

Police have seized both the bus and the truck. However, the drivers and their assistants fled the scene.

As no formal complaints were filed, the bodies were handed over to the victims' families, said the OC.
